First up we’re in Belarus where defending champions and the current league leaders BATE Borisov (their players battling against Juventus pictured left) take on 3rd placed Torpedo Zhodino. BATE is easily the strongest team in the Belarus and although Torpedo aren’t a bad outfit they’ve lost on their last 2 trips to Borisov and with 9 wins from 11 league games so far this season we simply have to back BATE to keep steamrolling their way to another title.
From Belarus we go to that hotbed of football which is Brazil. The first game from the land of samba is the clash between 2 newly promoted teams Santo Andre and Barueri. Both teams were expected to struggle however, after 8 games Barueri are 4th and their hosts are safe in midtable. Santo Andre have experienced former international Marcelinho Carioca pulling the strings in midfield and this should be an interesting tussle. Both teams have 4 draws from their 8 games so it’s not surprising we’re going for the draw at cracking odds of 3.30.
Next up from Brazil is Santos and their game with Sport Recife. Santos have plenty of quality to choose from with keeper Fabio Costa, centre-backs Fabiano Eller and Fabao, Leo at left-back and the front combination of veteran marksman Kleber Pereira and 17 year old starlet Neymar (pictured below). Sport Recife are renowned as a good home team yet away from home they often struggle and they will this weekeend as well, Santos to get the win.
From sunny Brazil we go to the not so sunny Finland and Tampere’s game against JJK Jyvaskyla. Tampere were expected to challenge for the title after coach Ari Hjelm rebuilt his squad over the summer however, they currently lie in 10th place. Their lowly position has a lot to do with their abysmal away form, they’ve lost 5 out of 5 on the road. Nevertheless at their own ground they’re a decent outfit with 5 wins from 7 games. Their visitors this weekend JJK are second bottom and with 4 defeats from their 5 away games Tampere have to be backed to get the 3 points.
Our final stop is Japan and the game between Shimizu S-Pulse and Kyoto Purple Sanga. At odds of 1.83 we simply have to back Shimizu. They’ve won their last 3 games against Kyoto and are unbeaten at home after 7 games. Meanwhile their opponents have yet to register an away win having lost 5 out of their 7 away fixtures. Home win all the way.
