During the first week of Wimbledon it’s pretty rare that you can find a match where the odds are worth having a bet on. For instance the odds on a Federer victory are usually as low as 1.05! With that in mind we’ll stick to football this weekend and then next week when we get to the nitty gritty end of Wimbledon we’ll be able to find something worth having a punt on.

From our first game we’re backing newly promoted Barueri to hold league leaders Atletico Mineiro to a draw. Atletico have started the season on fire with 5 wins and 2 draws from their opening 7 games. However, Barueri who are backed by the local council in the region of greater Sao Paulo have shown that they’re no mugs either as they sit in 6th place. Barueri are still unbeaten at home this season and we feel they’ll have enough about them to stifle their visitors and pick up another important point.
Next up we travel to Japan where the Urawa Red Diamonds play against Vissel Kobe. Urawa are in the middle of a bit of a bad patch having not won in 4. Nevertheless on Saturday they face the perfect opponents to end that run against in Vissel Kobe. Vissel have lost 6 and drawn 1 of their 7 away games and in their last fixture were 3-2 with 5 minutes to play and still managed to lose the game, going down 4-3 to Sanfrecce. Urawa are in 3rd place and if they don’t want their season to collapse they’ll have to get the 3 points on offer against Vissel so we have to back the home team.
Our second game from Japan sees Jubilo Iwata take on Kashiwa Reysol. The away team is second bottom and without an away win all season whilst the hosts have won their last 3 home games at the Yamaha stadium (pictured left). The last 2 times that Jubilo hosted Kashiwa they walked away with 4-0 and 1-0 wins respectively, with that in mind we have to back the home team to once again collect the 3 points.
Next up sees the bottom team Oita Trinita take on league leaders Kashima Antlers. Oita are a dismal team that has now lost their last 11 games whilst Kashima has 7 wins from their last 8 games and the odds of 1.65 on the away team are more than favourable.
Finally we end up in Norway and the game between Fredrikstad and Bodo Glimt. Neither team is having a particularly great season however, Fredrikstad are in a good run of form having won 4 out of their last 6 whilst Bodo Glimt are still looking to earn their first away win of the season having lost 5 of their 7 away games. They’ve also lost 4 of their last 5 games home and away so we’re backing Fredrikstad to continue their climb up the table.
