We start off at Wimbledon and Jelena Dokic’s (pictured left) match with Germany’s Tatjana Malek. Back in 1999 Dokic caused a sensation in the opening round of Wimbledon by beating the then World number 1 Martina Hingis. Her career seemed destined for greatness however, due to a series of personal problems she failed to live up to expectations and between 2006 and 2008 she hardly played a tournament. Nevertheless this season she has come back with a bang. At the Aussie Open a sensational run saw the now 26 year old reach her fourth Grand Slam quarterfinal. As the number 187 ranked player she defeated Paszek in the 1st round before going on to upset upset the No.17 seed Chakvetadze, No.11 seed Wozniacki and No.29 seed Kleybanova in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounds respectively before falling to the number 3 seed Safina in 3 gruelling sets.
Her opponent Malek is a solid if not sensational player. The world number 101 reached the 2nd round of the Aussie Open however, in March she fell in Indian Wells and Miami qualifying. Her disappointing season continued in Paris as she failed to qualify for Roland Garros. Dokic is the class act in this match-up with the only worry being the lower back problem she has recently been suffering from. However, if she should fail to finish the match due an injury the result would be void and the bookie will refund you, so with that in mind we have to back Dokic to reach the second round.
From the world of tennis we move on to football and Deportivo San Martin’s Peruvian league game with Universitario Lima. Both teams are enjoying decent runs with Deportivo unbeaten in 5 whilst the visitors haven’t tasted defeat in 4. Similarly both teams have had 2 draws in those unbeaten runs and 3 of the last 4 meetings between them have ended in draws. With that in mind we’re going for another draw in this clash.
Next up is the top Norwegian division where 3rd placed Odd Grenland (pictured playing against Rosenborg 
right) do battle with Stromsgodset. Stromsgodset are currently fourth bottom and they’ve been absolutely woeful away from home where they’ve lost 5 and drawn 1 of their 6 fixtures. Odd Grenland on the other hand have been exceptional at home with 5 wins and a draw from their 6 home games. The form table also shows us the Odd is the team we should be backing as they have 4 wins from their last 6 games whilst Stromsgodset have lost 4 of their last 6. We simply have to bet on Odd Grenland in this one at odds of 1.50.
Finally we travel to the Japanese 2nd division and the game between Ventforet Kofu and A. Fukuoka. Ventforet are on a great run having won 5 and drawing 2 of their last 7 whilst their opponents have 5 defeats and 2 wins in the same period. Ventforet have already humbled Fukuoka away this season with a 4-2 victory only last month. With their crowd behind them a home win looks a great bet at 1.55.
