As the Confederations Cup and those annoying horns continue to play down in South Africa we visit both South America and the Far East in this weekend’s bumper betting preview. Our 7 team acca gives us combined odds of 35.78, meaning that a measly £5 wager could net the punter over £178. Below is a detailed preview of each of our 7 games whilst in the highlights section you can relive the best moments from the Confederations Cup as well as the highlights from the midweek World Cup qualifiers.
Our latest great bonus sees Paddy Power gives away a £1000 Golden Ticket EVERY MONTH. You just need to sign up here!
We start off with a Brazilian double although the first game previewed is actually an all Brazilian Libertadores cup (trophy is pictured left) tie. Sao Paulo who have won the last 3 Brazilian titles take on Cruzeiro the champions in 2003 in the second leg of their quarterfinal. Cruzeiro go into the game with a 2-1 advantage from the first leg however, we feel that they’ll find it hard to hold on to that lead in this, the return fixture. Sao Paulo are a different team at home than they are away as they proved a week after losing the first leg when they beat Cruzeiro 3-0 at home in the Brazilian Championship. With the excellent Hernanes in midfield and the dangerous Washington in attack expect the Brazilian champs to progress to the semis where Gremio who have already qualified are waiting for them.
This brings us nicely on to Gremio and their league game against Goias. Gremio had the best record in this season’s Libertadores 1st round and were therfore seeded 1st going into the knock-out stages. The Porto Alegre side also finished last season a creditable 3rd in the Brazilian championship to prove that they’re a dangerous outfit. Goias on the other hand is a provincial team that flits between the first and second divisions although they do have a reputation for playing attractive football. Gremio have 2 wins and a draw at home so far this season, expect win number 3 to be achieved in this game.
From South America we travel on to Africa and a World Cup qualifier between Tunisia and Nigeria. Tunisia
currently top Group B with 2 wins out of 2 whilst their opponents are a further 2 points back having drawn with Mozambique. Tunisia are a very strong outfit especially at home as they proved at the 2004 African Cup of Nations when they, as hosts went on to win the tournament. Nigeria will be a tough team to beat however, the Tunisians have won 3 out of their 4 fixtures in 2009 with only the impressive Dutch managing to hold them to a draw. They have a chance to pull away from their visitors with a victory and we believe they’ll do just that.
We now go to the land of the rising sun and the Japanese first division. Our first fixture sees Kawasaki Frontale take on Oita Trinita. Kawasaki have won 3 out of their last 4 fixtures whilst their opponents have lost their last 8 as well as losing all 6 of their away games so far this season, home win all the way.
Next up are league leaders Kashima Antlers and their home tie with Jubilo Iwata. Kashima have won their last 5 fixtures against Jubilo and are unbeaten at home (their stadium is pictured left) so far this season having registered 5 wins from 6 games. Jubilo on the other hand have only 1 away win from 6 played, again we have to back the home team.
Our last game from Japan sees us back Sanfrecce Hiroshima against Vissel Kobe. Sanfrecce are on a decent run having won 3 of their last 4 games whilst Vissel come to Hiroshima with a terrible away record which consists of 1 draw and 5 defeats from 6 games played. Sanfrecce have won 3 of their last 5 games against Vissel and we reckon that they’ll get win number 4 this weekend.
Finally we end our bumper around the world acca with a game from Peru where Sporting Cristal take on Sport Ancash. Sporting are currently in 7th whilst their opponents are second from bottom. The home side has 4 wins on the bounce whilst their opponents are on a run of 5 successive defeats. The fact that Sporting have also won the last 5 clashes between the 2 sides means we simply have to back the home team to win their fifth game on the trot.
