If you have a quick gander at the driver’s standings below I think you’ll notice that we’re having one of our most exhilarating and closely fought Formula 1 battles since.…well since last year’s final race drama in Brazil!
The most exciting aspect to it is that last year we had two teams battling it out for supremacy whilst this year BMW Sauber has joined the powerhouses of McLaren and Ferrari at the front of the grid.
Last time out at Silverstone a wet weekend ensured an enthralling Grand Prix and the weather men (and women) are forecasting showers at Hockenheim too which should ensure another free for all and gripping race. In 2007 there was no German Grand Prix however, a quick look at the 2006 race will show that Raikkonen was the fastest in qualifying and we’re backing him to repeat the feat. We also believe that he’ll go on to record his third win of the season and his first since Spain back in April.
The BMW boys will also be looking to do well and we’re backing Kubica to get his fifth podium finish of the season at odds of 2.75. His team-mate Nick Heidfeld is one of five German drivers competing in what will be their home Grand Prix. Out of those five drivers the man from Monchengladbach has the best chance of a podium finish, so we’re backing him at tasty odds of 6.00.
Finally we’re going to go for Felipe Massa to post the fastest lap during the race available at 3.75. Although the Brazilian flatters to deceive more often than not, he’s in the fastest car and has already clocked up 3 fastest laps in the 9 races that we’ve had so far. Despite saying that if the heavens do open he’ll do well to finish the race.
